LOVE LIFTED ME David wrote this psalm to the Lord during the time when God had delivered him from the hand of Saul and his enemies. He felt like a drowning man that God had reached down and rescued.   Have you ever felt like David? The circumstances of life so overwhelming as to make

“The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted” (Psalms 18:46 NKJV).

Those who declare God dead are themselves dead in their trespasses and sins. Having denied knowledge of God, they think themselves wise and show themselves fools. For if God were dead, there would be no mind to know it, nor mouth to speak of it. God is not only the Creator of all, He is the Sustainer of all. He is not the absentee clockmaker, winding up the universe and walking away. No. He is the eternally present One, active and always at work in the creation He has made. He still hears when we pray. He still speaks when we listen. He never sleeps, for He has no need of rest. He never leaves nor forsakes us, for He always keeps those He has saved through the blood of His Son. Our Lord lives! Blessed be His Name!

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety” (Psalm 18:2 NLT)

July 22, 2014

Christ is “my rock:” He is my firm foundation and anchor. Christ is “my fortress:” He is my shelter when storms come and fears set in. Christ is “my Savior:” He is my sacrifice and sure salvation, the sweet fragrance that pleases God and saves me. Christ is my all. He is mine and I am his. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.

“You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud” (Psalm 18:27)

January 21, 2014

This spiritual principle is found throughout Scripture, that God helps the humble, but opposes the proud. Being humble does not mean having low self esteem. It means to rightly esteem God and others above yourself. It means to give credit to God and others for your success and blessing. The proud person is often truly the one with a low self image or self doubt. As a result they puff themselves up and take credit to make themselves look better. Who gets the credit in your life?

“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection” (Psalm 18:30)

July 23, 2012

How many of God’s promises do you know? Have you yet prayed them? The Lord keeps them all. He loves to hear His children pray His Word back to Him. Pick a promise today and put it on like body armor. God’s promises always come true.

“I love you, Lord; you are my strength” (Psalm 18:1)

God never tires. He takes no naps, nor feels discouraged. God is omnipotent. And He sends His Holy Spirit to dwell in those of us who believe. Rise up believer! Declare your love for Him and draw on His strength! Rise up and be the world-changing overcomer God has called you to be!

“You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great” (Psalm 18:35)

January 21, 2011

And God has stooped down, offering His Son to us, exchanging His righteousness for our sin. In Christ, God stooped down to make us great!
