Like a lion they attack the helpless who have no apparent protection.   But God does observe their trouble and grief. The helpless are

“Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them” (Psalm 10:17 NLT)

The Lord knows all our hopes, but surely He moves towards helping the helpless. Those who think themselves strong and in control, need no god. They are their own. Yet those who recognize their helpless state, cry out and the Lord hears. As Jesus taught, “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:3). Admit your helplessness, so that the Helper might answer.

“Why do the wicked get away with despising God?” (Psalm 10:13)

The Psalmist questions the prosperity of the wicked. Why? Why does God let them get away with such injustice and unbelief? Why do the wicked prosper? This is a prayer for God’s justice. Finally, the Psalmist expresses his confidence in God to handle it. Are you upset about something unfair today? Pray it out.

“Why, O LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1)

The Psalms express every emotion of the human heart. This one questions where God is when trouble comes. The writer begins feeling distant from God, but as he pours out his heart, he is encouraged again. God is not afraid of your questions. Cry out to Him and be refreshed.
