A Messianic psalm fulfilled in Jesus, Son of David. King David was promised that one of his sons would always sit on the throne. Yet, his royal line was removed from power by Babylon’s King Nebuchadnezzer and has not led since. However, Jesus has come in the line of David as both Son of Man and Son of God. He has inaugurated the Kingdom of Heaven and all who believe in Him have become His offspring. This Kingdom is an everlasting one. This King and His people will endure forever.

“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord” (Psalm 89:15)

Worship is not for us. It’s for the Lord. Yet, to those who answer the call to worship, God Himself inhabits their praise.

“I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” (Psalm 89:1)

Shouldn’t the One who made man’s mouth receive our songs and praise? What words and songs fill your mouth? Have you taught your children and grandchildren to sing “Jesus Loves Me?” Their mouths only repeat what they hear from ours.

What God said of David, Jesus fulfilled. He is the both the Son of God and of David. He is Messiah, the Anointed One. On this Thursday 2,000 years ago He gave new meaning to the bread and cup at Passover. He prayed in the garden and did God’s will. Hosanna, Son of David!

“The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it” (Psalm 89:11)
