A reminder that we are running a race that many faithful have run before us. They endured. They finished well. How will we run life’s race? Will we “strip off” worldly weights that slow us down? Will we avoid the sin that trips us up? There is a crowd of faithful finishers watching and waiting for us to cross life’s finish line! How are you running life’s race of faith?

Sola Fide (Faith alone). God is not pleased by our effort, but by our faith. It is Christ’s work that satisfied God. It is our faith in Christ’s finished work that pleases Him.

Don’t neglect meeting together with other believers. We need mutual encouragement and especially as the Day of Christ’s return draws near. Will we see you at church today?

There is a reality more real than ours, a worship more true, a ministry more effective and a Priest more perfect. We do not lean therefore, on our own worship, ministry and human leaders. They only point to Jesus and His work. We lean on Christ alone.

The Bible is made alive by the Spirit of God. Every generation who hears it, knows its power afresh. It is not just any book. It exposes our sin to us allowing the Spirit’s conviction. It reveals not only our true identity, but more significantly, it reveals God Himself to us. It is the most important Book on planet earth for by it comes hearing that leads to saving faith.

Pastor Gary Combs continues the “Time to Thrive” series with this message from Hebrews 11 entitled: “Time for Faith.” In the book of Hebrews we read that “faith alone pleases God.” Hebrews chapter 11 is like the Faith Hall of Fame. It lists people who have pleased God because of their faith. We can have faith that pleases God.

Have you said ‘No’ to God? Think back to the moment when you stopped hearing from God and you’ll remember your heart’s refusal. Perhaps it was only a small nudge to talk to stranger or to turn back to a store clerk and smile, but that was the moment God’s gentle voice went silent. Don’t refuse the God who speaks. Say ‘Yes!’

Running the race of faith, it is Jesus who sets the pace. We must keep our eyes on Him, sprinting and leaping when He does and resting too. It is Jesus who wrote the gospel in His own blood. And it is Jesus who finishes the work in us by His resurrected life. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Today is Veterans Day. Originally called Armistice Day, marking the end of WWI, it’s name was changed after WWII to honor all vets. It’s good to remember those who have suffered for freedom’s sake. Remember.
