“Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death” (Proverbs 11:4 NKJV).

HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST? Wealth is useful when facing human justice. It pays for attorneys and even judges of a certain type. Yet, “riches do not profit” when we face the judgment seat of God. All the treasure in the world is useless on that day. As one has said, “You never

“And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Mark 14:26 NKJV).

WHAT HYMN DID JESUS SING THE NIGHT BEFORE? On the Thursday night before His crucifixion, Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn together after finishing the Passover meal. My first observation is that Jesus sang. O what joy it must have been to hear His voice sing praises to God! How wonderful to have been

“Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps” (Numbers 10:2 NKJV).

March 8, 2020

WHEN THE TRUMPET SHALL SOUND The LORD instructed Moses to have two silver trumpets made. They were to have a two-fold purpose, namely, for calling the congregation and directing the movement of the same. Specifically, the trumpets were to be used to … …call the whole congregation to gather at the Tabernacle, …call the elders

“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory” (Mark 13:26 NKJV).

March 7, 2020

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR CHRIST’S RETURN? Referring to Himself by the Messianic title, “Son of Man, Jesus described His Second Coming to His disciples. This will occur at the end of the Great Tribulation. This is not the Rapture (cf. 1 Thess. 4:13-18), which precedes the seven years of tribulation, but the time when Jesus

“Why should I fear in the days of evil…?” (Psalms 49:5 NKJV).

March 6, 2020

ARE YOU WALKING IN FEAR OR BY FAITH TODAY? We live in a day of national fear. Political disorder in an election year, the economy moving wildly up and down like a roller-coaster, and news of a pestilence called the coronavirus, all these and more are elevating our anxiety. Yet the Psalmist asks, “Why should

“We have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness, In the midst of Your temple” (Psalm 48:9 NKJV).

March 5, 2020

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED GOD’S LOVINGKINDNESS? Again we return to one of the favorite themes of the Psalmist, namely, the “lovingkindness” of God. This attribute in the Hebrew is called “chesed.” It describes the unconditional and covenantal love of God. The Psalmist wrote that they had “thought on” this Divine attribute in the temple. In other

“… And they marveled at Him” (Mark 12:17b NKJV).

March 4, 2020

THE MARVELOUS MESSIAH Even Christ’s enemies “marveled at Him” when He answered their question about paying taxes. Jesus displayed amazing wisdom with such brevity and fulness (“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”). He wasted not a single word, yet fully responded to their complex question.

“And whenever you stand praying…” (Mark 11:25 NKJV).

March 3, 2020

WHAT BODY POSITION IS PREFERABLE FOR PRAYING? In Christ’s teaching on prayer, He assumed that the disciples would stand to pray. I’ve never done a study on the body positions of those praying in the Bible, but it might be an interesting research. Many pray while seated or even while lying in the bed. I’m

“And the third day He will rise again” (Mark 10:34b NKJV).

March 2, 2020

JESUS IS RISEN, JUST AS HE SAID As Jesus led his disciples up to Jerusalem, he told them that he was going up there to be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes who would condemn him to death and turn him over to the Gentiles for execution. Yet on the third day, he would

“In this Year of Jubilee, each of you shall return to his possession.” (Leviticus 25:13 NKJV).

JESUS IS OUR JUBILEE Every seven years the Israelites were to keep a Sabbath for the land. God promised to bless their land with such abundance in the sixth year that it would provide enough for three years (Lev. 25:21-22). After seven of these cycles (49 years), in the fiftieth year they were to declare
