“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV)
Paul wrote these words to assure the Corinthians that God’s Word can always be trusted. Unlike human plans that may shift, God’s promises never fail. All of His covenant promises, no matter how many, no matter how long they seemed delayed, find their complete and final fulfillment in Christ. Jesus is God’s great “Yes!” to us. He is the living proof that God keeps His Word. Yet there is also a human response implied. God has already spoken His “Yes” in Christ, but it is through Christ that we, in faith, lift up our “Amen” back to Him. “Amen” means “Yes, truly, may it be so!” Our affirmation of God’s promises fulfilled in Christ glorifies the Father and affirms our confidence in His Word.
We live in a world full of broken promises. People let us down, circumstances shift, and our own plans often crumble. Yet God’s promises are unshakable because they are anchored in Christ. In Him, every prophecy, every covenant, every pledge of God finds its “Yes.” That means we don’t have to waver or doubt, our confidence is in Jesus, the Promised One. Still, this truth invites our response. We must add our “Amen” to God’s “Yes.” When we say “Yes” to Jesus, we receive all that God has promised us—salvation, forgiveness, adoption, eternal life. And as we walk daily with Him, our constant “Amen” becomes a life of faith, trust, and worship that glorifies God. Let’s live as a people whose “Amen” is always rising to the Father because Christ is His “Yes” to us!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You that every promise You have made finds its “Yes” in Christ. Forgive us for the times we live in doubt or fear. Teach us to respond with faith, always adding our “Amen” to Your “Yes” in Jesus. May our lives glorify You as we trust fully in Your Promised One. In Jesus’ name, amen.
