Worldly riches are temporary and so is the happiness they bring, for they always contain trouble as well. The ‘new car’ smell always wears off. The new roof eventually leaks. Moth and rust destroy and thieves steal. But the blessing of the Lord is eternal and adds no trouble. His blessing cannot be earned, only received. Which do you seek?

Striving for riches, we often find suffering instead. But when we follow Jesus, seeking first His Kingdom, He meets our needs along the way. Following is better than striving. When we drink from His cup, it may burn on the way down, but it leaves no bitter aftertaste.

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” (Mark 10:43)

Unlike worldly leaders, Kingdom leaders descend to greatness by serving. Jesus calls us to be servant-leaders. Are there jobs in your family, workplace or church that are beneath you? Good. Start there and do them wholeheartedly. Faithfulness in the little things comes first.
