Dr. Tripp teaches parents how to aim their efforts at\u00a0heart change, rather just behavior change. We want more than just good kids, we want saved kids. For those that want more than theory, this book is as practical as they come.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Leading-Kids-Jesus-One-One\/dp\/0310263824\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1442519167&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2742\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/LeadingKids-201x300.jpg\" alt=\"LeadingKids\" width=\"82\" height=\"122\" data-wp-pid=\"2742\" \/>Leading Kids to Jesus: How to Have One-on-One Conversations about Faith<\/a><\/em> by David\u00a0Staal<\/p>\n<p>So many parents have question about this topic. Staal addresses questions of when\u00a0and how to have spiritual conversations that your child can understand. Every Christian parent should read this book.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;on marriage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Now-Youre-Speaking-Language-Communication\/dp\/0805444602\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442519526&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=now+you%27re+speaking+my+language\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2744\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Speaking-201x300.jpg\" alt=\"Speaking\" width=\"82\" height=\"123\" data-wp-pid=\"2744\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Now-Youre-Speaking-Language-Communication\/dp\/0805444602\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442519526&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=now+you%27re+speaking+my+language\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Now You&#8217;re Speaking My Language: Honest Communication and Deeper Intimacy for a Stronger Marriage<\/a><\/em> by Dr. Gary Chapman<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chapman, also the author of <em>The Five Love Languages<\/em>, offers a very helpful book on communication in marriage. In my experience, poor communication is the number one cause of marital distress.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Grace-Filled-Marriage-Missing-Piece-ebook\/dp\/B00EFJT1R0\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442519961&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=grace+filled+marriage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2746\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Grace-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"Grace\" width=\"85\" height=\"128\" data-wp-pid=\"2746\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Grace-Filled-Marriage-Missing-Piece-ebook\/dp\/B00EFJT1R0\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442519961&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=grace+filled+marriage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grace Filled Marriage<\/a><\/em>\u00a0by Tim Kimmel<\/p>\n<p>Kimmel, who has also written an excellent book entitled, <em>Grace Filled Parenting<\/em>, has written a very helpful book for couples that helps them understand the importance of grace and forgiveness in their marriage. A marriage without grace will eventually lead to bitterness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;on singleness:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Singleness-Hope-Heart-June-Hunt-ebook\/dp\/B00I84NU02\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442520210&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=singleness+how+to+be+single\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2747\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Single-172x300.jpg\" alt=\"Single\" width=\"82\" height=\"143\" data-wp-pid=\"2747\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Singleness-Hope-Heart-June-Hunt-ebook\/dp\/B00I84NU02\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442520210&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=singleness+how+to+be+single\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singleness: How to Be Single and Satisfied<\/a><\/em> by June Hunt<\/p>\n<p>I found Hunt&#8217;s book\u00a0to be very helpful in preparing my sermon on how singles can live spiritually fulfilling lives. Reading books like this helps.\u00a0Danylak makes a very insightful case for the biblical significance of singleness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Books I recommended during our &#8220;The Rhythm of Prayer&#8221;\u00a0series&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Prayer-Finding-Richard-published-HarperOne\/dp\/B00E31GFA6\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442520970&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=prayer+richard+foster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2753\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Prayer-203x300.jpg\" alt=\"Prayer\" width=\"86\" height=\"128\" data-wp-pid=\"2753\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Prayer-Finding-Richard-published-HarperOne\/dp\/B00E31GFA6\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1442520970&amp;sr=1-2&amp;keywords=prayer+richard+foster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prayer: Finding\u00a0the Heart&#8217;s True Home<\/a><\/em> by\u00a0Richard Foster<\/p>\n<p>Foster&#8217;s book is one of the most helpful on prayer that\u00a0I have in my library. His insightful way of organizing types of prayers according to three prayer movements is particularly encouraging. Read this book to change your prayer life and to learn new ways of praying.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Prayer-Experiencing-Awe-Intimacy-God\/dp\/0525954147\/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1442521195&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2755\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/PrayerKeller-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"PrayerKeller\" width=\"87\" height=\"132\" data-wp-pid=\"2755\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Prayer-Experiencing-Awe-Intimacy-God\/dp\/0525954147\/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1442521195&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God<\/a> <\/em>by\u00a0Timothy Keller<\/p>\n<p>Keller writes as a pastor to his flock, but also as an academic to his students. This book is both for the one who needs help in their prayer life and also for the one who would understand the purpose and practices of prayer more fully. A very readable and helpful book.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Fresh-Encounters-Experiencing-Transformation-Worship-Based\/dp\/1600063551\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1442521711&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2759\" src=\"https:\/\/garycombsorg.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Fresh-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Fresh\" width=\"86\" height=\"129\" data-wp-pid=\"2759\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Fresh-Encounters-Experiencing-Transformation-Worship-Based\/dp\/1600063551\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1442521711&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fresh Encounters: Experiencing Transformation Through United Worship-Based Prayer<\/a><\/em>\u00a0by Daniel Henderson<\/p>\n<p>My son, Stephen, recommended this book to me. I took it on my first of the year study break. It was the inspiration for our prayer series and prayer emphasis for this season. Henderson has convinced me that our church needs to grow in its commitment to corporate prayer, not just teaching on prayer, but actually spending time together in prayer.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that&#8217;s all for now.
