{"id":13765,"date":"2025-11-26T09:29:42","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T14:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.garycombs.org\/blog\/?post_type=oyb&#038;p=13765"},"modified":"2025-11-26T09:29:43","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T14:29:43","slug":"declaring-gods-word-before-kings","status":"publish","type":"oyb","link":"https:\/\/www.garycombs.org\/blog\/oyb\/declaring-gods-word-before-kings","title":{"rendered":"DECLARING GOD&#8217;S WORD BEFORE KINGS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe king answered and said to Daniel, \u2018Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery&#8221; (Daniel 2:47 ESV).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had a troubling dream revealing the future of earthly kingdoms. Recognizing its importance yet unable to recall it, he demanded that his wise men reveal both the dream and its meaning, or be executed. They could not. But God revealed both to Daniel, a Hebrew captive in Babylon who remained steadfast in his devotion. Standing before the most powerful ruler of his day, Daniel made clear that the interpretation came not from human wisdom but from the God of heaven. In response, Nebuchadnezzar declared that Daniel\u2019s God is \u201cGod of gods and Lord of kings.\u201d While this confession seems motivated more by astonishment and emotional response than true conversion, it marks the beginning of an increasing openness in the king to acknowledge the LORD as the only true God as the narrative unfolds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Daniel, we are called to courageously declare God\u2019s truth, even when standing before those with power or influence. Our task is faithfulness, not control of the outcome. Whether our obedience leads to favor or opposition, we can trust that God notices and will use it for His purposes. As Jesus promised, \u201cYou will be brought before kings and governors for my name\u2019s sake\u2026 do not be anxious\u2026 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom\u201d (Luke 21:12,15). We need not fear such moments, for the Spirit will supply the words when we stand for Him. Let us, therefore, speak God&#8217;s Word with humility and confidence, recognizing that even small steps of obedience can begin to shift hearts. For God&#8217;s Word will not return void (cf. Isa.55:11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PRAYER: Dear Father, give us the boldness of Daniel to declare Your truth without fear. Prepare our hearts to speak faithfully when standing before those in authority, trusting You to supply the words. May our lives point others, even skeptics, toward recognizing You as the only true God.
