\u201cPosterity shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation; they shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it.\u201d (Psalm 22:30\u201331 ESV).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This psalm of David began with a haunting cry of abandonment\u2014\u201cMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?\u201d\u2014words that Jesus later quoted from the cross. But the psalm ends with triumphant proclamation. The sufferer has been vindicated. Future generations will hear and respond. The word \u201cposterity\u201d points to a covenantal legacy, a people who will worship the Lord because of what He has accomplished. The phrase \u201che has done it\u201d is especially powerful. It anticipates Christ\u2019s final words on the cross: \u201cIt is finished\u201d (John 19:30). The salvation foretold in this psalm was fulfilled in Christ. He accomplished what we could never do. He bore our sin, satisfied justice, and opened the way to life. And now, this good news is passed down from generation to generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are part of the fulfillment of this psalm. We are among the \u201cposterity\u201d who serve Him, and it is now our joyful duty to proclaim His righteousness to those yet unborn. Christ has finished the work\u2014\u201cHe has done it!\u201d\u2014but He has entrusted us with the message. Let us not grow weary in telling the story of His grace. We may feel inadequate, but the weight of salvation does not rest on us. It rests on Him who already accomplished it. Our role is to proclaim, not to perform. Whether sharing with our children, witnessing to a friend, or simply living lives that reflect Christ, we testify that the Lord is righteous and that His work is complete. May we be faithful stewards of the story, telling it to the coming generation with joy and confidence in the One who finished it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You that Jesus has done it. Thank You for His finished work of salvation. Help us to be faithful in proclaiming the gospel to the next generation. May our lives and words declare the finished work of Christ. Strengthen us to spread this gospel until all people have heard.
