{"id":12640,"date":"2024-09-02T08:12:05","date_gmt":"2024-09-02T12:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.garycombs.org\/blog\/?post_type=oyb&#038;p=12640"},"modified":"2024-09-02T08:12:05","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T12:12:05","slug":"behold-now-is-the-day-of-salvation","status":"publish","type":"oyb","link":"https:\/\/www.garycombs.org\/blog\/oyb\/behold-now-is-the-day-of-salvation","title":{"rendered":"BEHOLD, NOW IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBehold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation&#8221; (2 Corinthians 6:2 ESV).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The apostle Paul quoted Isaiah\u2019s prophecy (Isa. 49:8) concerning the time of salvation that the coming Messiah would bring to both Jew and Gentile alike. Paul declared to the Corinthians that the long awaited for time had come. Paul began both phrases of his application of Isaiah\u2019s prophecy with \u201cbehold, now.\u201d The word \u201cbehold\u201d called them to \u201clook\u201d and \u201csee\u201d with understanding. The word \u201cnow\u201d demanded a sense of urgency to see that the appointed time had finally come and was upon them. What the faithful had long awaited with expectation was finally here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Ecclesiates reading for today states, &#8220;For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven&#8221; (Eccl. 3:1). So today, we live in the \u201cfavorable time\u201d of the gospel, yet let us not \u201creceive the grace of God in vain.\u201d Having heard the gospel, now is the time to accept it. Having accepted the gospel, now is the day to live it out and proclaim it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behold, now is the day of salvation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PRAYER: Dear Father, we are so blessed to be living in the day of grace that the saints of old long awaited. For we live in the day when the gospel was given. Strengthen us to live the gospel and do the gospel and proclaim the gospel today.
